Dimitri
started life in the 1980s. With little more than an old tascam four-track, tape machine and ancient computer and a very old Yamaha DS 20.  " I started from absolutely nothing. I was signing on at the time but had been involved in music business for many many years. The shed seemed an ideal place but it was tiny. It had no windows and single brick walls. I managed to find some old carpet which I nailed to the wall in an attempt to retain some heat in the winter. It had no proper ceiling so you could see the rafters. My worst nightmare would be working on a track and feeling a slight tickle on the back of my neck to discover one of the many spiders that were in residence had popped down to listen to the music my headphones!! it was absolutely freezing in winter. I would be working on a track completely oblivious to my surroundings and try to get up to make a cup of tea only to find that my legs were no longer communicating with the rest of me!"

Dimitri was predominantly involved in supporting and encouraging songwriting talent in the Christian arena for both performance and recording,  providing production facilities and expertise. In the mid-Nineties it became involved in working with young people. using music and video as a means of communicating and providing a cathartic process for children and young people who for a range of reasons had become disenfranchised from society. This highly successful programme was responsible for affecting fundamental change in the self-perception of the children and young people who accessed the programme. This set the theme for the work.

" I wanted Dimitri to be about congruence. In fact To support  artists that really believed in what they were saying through their music. I wasn't interested in producing plastic music, with no real meaning. I wanted to work with people that were sincere about what they belived in and felt music was a true gift to communicate. Music is about moments. Moments in time, moments in life. it has the power to communicate healing and love, the ability to vocalise deep and untouched areas in our souls. It has the ability to open up areas locked away by past Hurt's and negative experiences. It can offer freedom of expression and the pathway to a deeper understanding and appreciation of who we are and the world we're living in. "

This philosophy has been a musician's dream, a creative spiritual haven from which anything's possible. So as not to become diluted Dimitri has focused on artists with exceptional talent and exceptional ability, Its support and nurture of talent is reminiscent of a culture that existed before making music became an industry. time, support, development are fundamental to the mix.  "There are very few people making music that touch the soul and heart, because it takes time, energy and money to develop a piece of work that will have such an impact. But I believe that Dimitri records should be and needs to be involved in a artist's who can have an impact on the soul and heart of the individuals they reach"
